You’ve invested in the courses, the business coaches, the team members… But do you ever wonder when it’s time to invest in a web design?
The truth is, a professionally designed website is not necessary for many entrepreneurs until they reach a certain stage in their business. While investing in brand and web design is something I highly recommend having in mind for the future of your business, it is not worth the investment for entrepreneurs who are in their earlier stages. Instead, buying a template or DIY-ing a simple website would be the best option here.
However, there will be a point where you are literally leaving money on the table by NOT having a high quality, totally customized website for your business. This is where investing in a web design is a critical investment to taking your brand to the “next level”.
Every entrepreneur knows the importance of building a strong foundation in any business. Just like a house, without the foundation in place, a business will crumble.
Building a strong business foundation is all about clarity and strategy. Who is your target market? What are the problems they struggle with that your business will solve? What type of business model will you run? What is your marketing plan, and how will you execute it?
Needless to say, there is a lot that goes into building a strong business foundation and it takes time to do so. The foundation building stage requires messy action, trial and error, and time. At this stage, the best option is to DIY your website or purchase a template.
Once you have built the foundations for your business and have built up momentum, the next stage is to increase brand awareness and equity so you can continue to scale.
Your website is the storefront to your business. It can attract NEW customers and create life-long relationships with previous ones though blog content, aesthetics, and personality. Utilizing a blog is a great way to gain more website traffic and generate new leads into your business. I always suggest linking content upgrades (free email opt-ins that are related to your blog post) inside your blog posts so you can bring new visitors into your funnel! I personally generate new blog traffic with SEO and Pinterest marketing – both are definitely good skills to learn or to outsource.
If you have a solid product suite built out, having a strategic website is essential if you want to start funneling them. I always suggest featuring your lead magnets & lowest ticket offers in strategic areas on your website so you can draw as many visitors into your funnel(s) as possible. I won’t go into too much detail with funnels, but the idea is to get your visitors into an email sequence that will sell your offerings on autopilot. Cha-ching!
This is a clear sign that your business is in a place where it is ready for a website upgrade. I’ve had several website design clients come to me solely because they kept getting inquiries and found it difficult to manually respond to all of them.
Do you ever find yourself sending a ton of voice messages to potential clients in the DMs explaining all of the ways they can possibly work with you? Make it WAY easier (for both of you) and have a shop or services webpage on your site where you can easily direct potential clients to all possible ways to work with you.
Brand clarity is key to a website that works FOR you and delivers a ROI to your design investment. I find a lot of entrepreneurs have a foggy brand vision, meaning they don’t have a vision for the future direction of their brand, and they currently don’t have a clear brand strategy and creative direction in place to propel their brand forward.
In order to have a website work FOR your business, you have to have a clear brand strategy and identity in place. This is essential for clear and consistent design and messaging that resonates with your target market. The goal here is to make your audience FEEL a specific emotion when they visit your website. Remember, nearly all buying decisions are made based on a certain emotion.
